Greetings!
I hope this email finds you all well and enjoying the last few days of summer. Fall will be upon us quickly, and I want to write to give you some reminders of how to take care of yourselves as the seasons change.
Now that it’s cooling down, be sure to move from raw fruits and veggies (salads) to more steamed and warm foods. Switch to root vegetables (carrots, beets, turnips) and squashes. Check your tongue in the mirror: is it flabby with scallops on the side? If so, you may have a spleen imbalance from eating/ drinking the wrong foods. The guidelines above should help. Continue to drink a lot of room-temperature water. Rest more frequently and start going to bed earlier (in bed by 10:00 pm).
In the Chinese medicine philosophy, yang is moving into yin and it can be easier to get sick during this time. Be sure to protect your wind gates if you’re outside on a windy day (your wind gates are on the back of your neck just under the occipital ridge, behind your ears and on the sides of your thighs). Scarves are an excellent accessory during this time! Come in for an acupuncture treatment or a nutritional IV if you feel like you are “coming down with something”.
Fall is also an excellent time for a cleanse, particularly if you have had a summer of debauchery, summer concerts and socializing! Many of you are starting to purge naturally; I have had a lot of patients come in speaking of digestive changes. This is natural in most cases, and is your body’s way of cleaning itself. We offer a comprehensive, yet gentle, 3 week cleanse program, including supplements, dietary guidelines, recipe ideas and daily activities. It is important to do the cleanse earlier on in Park City’s fall, before it gets too cold. Please give the clinic a call at (435) 655-SAGE (7243) or send an email if you are interested. We are offering $75 acupuncture visits during their cleanse for patients who choose to go through our program.
It is time for many of you to come in for your monthly or seasonal “tune-ups”. If you have not been in for an acupuncture treatment lately, please consider coming in. Remember, it is easier to stay healthy through proper food, lifestyle activities and maintaining proper flow of qi than it is to restore health if you are sick.
As a benefit to our established patients, we are now offering you a $10 discount on your next visit for every person who comes in as a result from a referral that you made. We truly appreciate your confidence in us, and the discount is our way of saying “Thank you very much”.
Many of you have interacted with Jet, who is helping us (immensely) with our front office duties. If you would like to schedule an appointment, want to pick up supplements or need a refill on a Chinese herbal formula, please give Jet a call at (435) 655-SAGE (7243).
We have a new fall schedule. Dr. Brad Lester is working Mondays 9:00-3:00, Wednesdays 9:00-3:00, Thursdays 9:00-6:00 and Fridays 9:00-6:00. Dr. Babbie is working Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9:00-6:00, Fridays 9:00-3:00 and every other Saturday from 9:00-6:00.
Many of you know that, for the last 13 years, I have been training/ mentoring with a man named Dr. Theo Paredes from Cusco, Peru. In October, Brad and I have the opportunity to go to Peru to study with Theo. We will be out of the clinic from October 6th-October 15th. Jet will still be checking email and phone for those of you who need to schedule or pick up supplements or herbal formulas.
As always, I truly appreciate and welcome any feedback that you have for me. If you feel that we could be doing something better, or if you would like to see additional services or have any comments at all, please feel free to call or email. If you prefer your comments to be anonymous, please call Jet at (435) 655-SAGE (7243).
May your days be filled with appreciation and gratitude for everything you are blessed with in your life. May your every day be filled with unexpected joy!
Wishing you the very best in health,
Babbie
